Just who is the real DC James?

I thought that I should also mention another very important character, who by rights should have had a chapter, or at least part of a chapter, named after her! I can't really explain why that didn't happen at this stage. Looking back there should have been one. However, later on Detective Constable James does have quite a lot to do & at times matches Stark's standing in the book, in certain key chapters\events. It was fun writing their interactions anyway!

Now this Sally James should not be confused with the Sally James from Tiswas, - for those that remember her. It's just a complete accident that their names are the same. However, the real Sally James did come across as being quite confident & was more than capable of taking control of very difficult situations & that's exactly what this character needed! This strength & the build of the real life James is also accidently similar to the one in this book, the difference being that DC James is taller & blond. I guess subconsciously I must have had the real person in mind when I needed to build the character. As well as this I do, funnily enough, actually have a close friend who reminds me a great deal of this character, especially in appearance. This is a bit strange, because I came up with James at least 3 years before I even met my friend! Maybe the character influenced me to be drawn to this person, or maybe I wrote the character because I sought her in reality? Either way I am very grateful for this wonderful friendship, even if she does now live on the other side of the world. Normally, I must add, I did tend to base a lot of the characters on real people I knew & had met. James was a combination of a lot of elements put together until someone similar came into my life, which is very back to front. Funny how it works out in the end.

On a final note; next week I'm away - I fly to London, so I have toyed with the idea of posting the whole of chapter 3 at once, which is not normal for me. I'm still trying to decide whether to do this or not at the moment. .... Can't make my mind up.
